Minutes of the Recreation and Amenities Committee Meeting
held on 5th March 2020 at 7.00 pm – Haling Dene Centre

1404. APOLOGIES
Apologies were received from Cllrs Mrs Isabel Ford and David Oldfield.
1405. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
There were no declarations of interest.
1406. DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTEREST (DPI)
There had been no DPI requests received.
1407. MINUTES
Resolved
That the minutes of the meeting of 23rd January be approved as a true and correct record and be
signed by the Chairman.
1408. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
There were no Matters Arising from the minutes.
1409. INCOME AND EXPENDITURE
[a] The Recreation and Amenities printouts for the year to date were received.
[b] The Burial Ground printouts for the year to date were received.

1410. PLAY AREAS
It was noted that the Play Area Inspections had been booked and would be undertaken by John
Hicks during July 2020.
1411. VICTORIAN FAYRE
[a] The Chairman’s report was received on the above following the Working Group meeting of 4th
March.
Councillors were advised that the Fayre had been booked together with a brass Band and a
provisional booking for a Choir.
They agreed that the event be held on Saturday 5th December with the road closure being between
2.00 pm and 9.00 pm and the Fayre being open to the public between 4.00 pm and 8.00 pm. There
would be a further Working Group meeting in May before the Recreation and Amenities meeting.

1412. TEDDESLEY ROAD OPEN SPACE
Consideration was given to if the Committee wished to approach Persimmon Homes with regard to
the option of donating the piece of land behind Teddesley Road Open Space and changing use to
a car park.
Resolved that:
[i] The PA make enquires with regard to the above piece of land.
[ii] The PA make enquires with regard to the land at the side of Riverview which the Parish Council
had maintained for over 12 years.
Burial Ground
1413. CLOSED CHURCHYARDS
[a] Further to the resolution made at the January meeting with regard to the above
Resolved that additional information be obtained and this item be placed on the March agenda.
The Committee received a reply from South Staffordshire Council.
Resolved that the PA write to St Michael’s Church PPC Committee enquiring what they envisage to
happen once the Church Yard was official closed.
1414. DATE AND TIME OF NEXT MEETING
Thursday 21st May 2020 at 7.00 pm.
1415. Local Government Act 1972 – Exclusion of Press and Public – to resolve that the Press and Public be
excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds
that they are likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in the appropriate
paragraph(s) Section 1[2] Public Bodies/Admission to meetings Act 1960.
