Minutes of the Haling Dene Management Committee Meeting
Held on 28th March 2024 at 7.00 pm at the Haling Dene Centre
Audio recordings will be made of all Ordinary and Special Council meetings and Committee meetings,
with the inclusion of confidential matters.

524. APOLOGIES
Committee Members: Apologies were received from Cllr Mrs Petula Hughes.
Non-Committee Members: Apologies were received from Cllr Alan Smallwood.
525. VIDEO/AUDIO RECORDING
[a] There were two members of the Council who declared they were video/recording the meeting,
Cllrs Victor Kelly and Gary Poston.
526. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
There were no declarations of interest.
527. DISCLOSABLE PECUNIARY INTEREST (DPI)
There were no DPIs.
528. MINUTES
Resolved that:
[a] The minutes be approved for the meeting of 25th January 2024 with an amendment to the wording
to item 520 – Mother and Toddlers Group –
Resolved that any Parish Council Initiatives, that it provides for the Community, are not charged
room hire.
[b] The Follow Up Sheets from the January meeting were received.
529. INCOME/EXPENDITURE
[a] The Haling Dene Management printouts for the year to date were received.

530. HALING DENE CENTRE
[a] The Function list was received for 2024 to date.
[b] The PA advised that a representative from A1 BarStuff visited the Haling Dene and viewed the Bar
and Cellar to give options for a Flash Cooler.
The options they provided were:
Option 1 – Air conditioning Unit at a cost of £1,000 plus VAT
Option 2 – Stand Alone Chiller and four jackets at a cost of £1,600 plus VAT
Option 3 – Re-conditioned Stand Alone Chiller and four jackets at a cost of £1,100 plus VAT
Resolved that:
[i] The Council purchase Option one and Option Two.
[ii] The Bar Company charge be reviewed at the end of June 2024.
[c] Consideration was given to a quotation from Penkridge Electrical to replace the lighting in the
Brownies rooms at a cost of £760.00.
Councillors asked if the number of lights would be too many for the rooms once upgraded and the
Contractor be asked their thoughts.
Resolved that the above be approved if the Contractor advises that there are not too many lights
for the rooms.
[d] An email was received dated 30th January following a Crime Prevention Survey at the HD Centre.
Resolved that the Committee consider installing additional cameras with a recorded message.
[e] It was noted His Majesty The Kings Official Portrait had been ordered for the Centre.
[f] Consideration was given to purchasing a D-Day 80 Flag to mark the 80 year anniversary of the DDay landing to be flown from 9.00 am on 6th June for one week. The cost of the flag is £28.80
including VAT and 5’ x 3’.
Resolved that a Flag be ordered for the Centre.
Following the meeting Mr Alan Stevens of Haling Road offered to purchase the Flag for the Centre
and the Chairman of Council accept the offer.
531. HALING DENE EVENTS 2024
[a] Consideration was given to the above following the Working Group meeting of 31st January.
